From age 13 to 17

Since I was a young kid, I remember gaming was a big passion of mine. But I really got into it when Counter-Strike came into my life. I was delighted at how communities were built around it and wanted to be part of it, so I started to learn about hosting services and dedicated servers to be able to have my own community. Then at the age of 13, I discovered programming and that mods could be done with it and that became my new passion, being able to create original content so my community could enjoy and have fun was something I will never forget and the reason I decided to always focus on multiplayer experiences.

I remember telling myself that I would love to move from making mods to making games but had no clue on how to do it until around my 17 something amazing happened, Unity 3 appeared and you were able to do games with it so I started to learn how to use it.

From age 17 to 22

Although I always considered myself a self-taught person, I had to choose which University and career I wanted to study, there wasn’t any game development-oriented ones in my city at the time, so I chose one that was supporting the local game development environment, with events like hosting the global game jam on their campus. That’s how I ended up studying Software Engineering at Blas Pascal University which led me to meet the founders of Ravegan, my first game development job.

While at the University I kept learning game development and creating personal projects in my free time.

First Game Dev Job

Later on, I recall Ravegan’s founder mentioning to me they needed a technical artist and there weren’t many in my city at that time. So I offered my help, as I love learning new stuff and challenges.

I remember him telling me that now inside the industry I was going to learn much faster and better and he was completely right as it was the best and fastest learning experience I ever had.

I went from a technical artist to a game developer, to a lead developer mentoring and recruiting other developers, working on countless different projects, but only a few of them were big multiplayer games.

Second Game Dev Job

That’s when I met the great people at DANKIE, a company that creates awesome co-op dino shooter experiences, and immediately wanted to start working with them. My time on it was shorter but awesome as it allowed me to put my multiplayer knowledge into practice constantly.

Currently

Finishing my work at DANKIE, I was looking at different offers and that’s when Starloop Studios reached out to me and told me I was going to be a good asset to the team. Looking at their background and talking with their technical team I saw it was going to have great challenges.

When I joined Starloop I felt really welcome and noticed I was around great people with the same mindset.

I immediately was assigned to a project up to my expectations, a big Unreal Multiplayer metaverse project that would be a great challenge for me.

That’s when I met Enrique, our Producer and we started to work together to make this project AI reality. Working with him has been a great experience, he always seeks advice and tries to find the best solution for every aspect of the project, always willing to go the extra mile for a great product.

Even though we’re in the early stages of development the community was already able to have a glance of what it can be and being able to see them playing and having fun together without even knowing all the great things that will come warms my heart with joy.

Outside the project it has also been a great experience, they make me feel really valued as they include me on estimations, decisions, recruitment processes, and in general want my advice for other projects and topics which tells a lot about how the company cares about their clients and employees.
